The 76-year-old Litchfield County woman was located on Thursday, Aug. 25 in Torrington, near land surrounding Burr Pond.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was found by first responders who located the body just off the shoreline at the state park, said Paul Copleman, media relations manager for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is still investigating the cause of death, Copleman said.
"At this time there is no concern for public safety in the area and Burr Pond State Park and boat launch were re-opened for use," he added.
State Encon Police are currently investigating and not releasing further details at this time.
